Voter’s Choice Act Update
For the June 5, 2018 Gubernatorial Primary Election

Sacramento County is preparing to implement the Voter’s Choice Act to expand voting opportunities for the voters in our County. This Act replaces traditional polling places that are only open on Election Day with Vote Centers where any voter in Sacramento County can choose to vote in person at any of the 16 locations starting 10 days prior to and including Election Day or any of the 78 locations starting 3 days prior to and including Election Day. This Act also requires over 50 ballot drop-off locations throughout the County starting 28 days before Election Day.

To host a Vote Center, locations are required to have a room or designated area for voting, be accessible to voters with disabilities, and can make a commitment to be open to voters for 11 days or 4 days for a minimum of 8 hours per day and open 7:00 am - 8:00 pm on Election Day. To host a ballot drop-off site, locations are required to be accessible to voters with disabilities and available for 29 days, including Election Day, but can be open during the location’s regular business hours. Compensation is provided for use of a facility as a Vote Center.

If any facilities are interested in participating in this historic change to how elections are conducted in California, or would like more information, please contact Sacramento County Voter Registration & Elections at or (916) 875-6100.
