Presidential Primary Election Update

Voting Begins Today

Vote by Mail ballots in the mail

Registrar of Voters Jill LaVine announced that beginning today Monday, May 9 2016, vote by mail voters can cast their Presidential Primary ballots through the mail or in person at the Elections Office, 7000 65th Street, Suite A, Sacramento 95823. Permanent Vote by Mail voters will receive their ballot in the mail in the next few days.  


In an effort to make returning your Vote by Mail ballot easier the Sacramento County Election Office has installed a new drive-through ballot drop-off box in the Election’s Office parking lot.  Voters can now just drive up, drop-off their ballots and quickly be on their way.  This drop box is available to voters 7 days week, 24 hours a day even when this office is closed.


It’s not too late to vote by mail for the Presidential Primary Election. Registered voters have until May 31, 2016 to request a Vote by Mail ballot be mailed to them. You can request a Vote by Mail ballot by using the application printed on the back of the sample ballot booklet, apply online at www.elections.saccounty.net, or call the Elections Office at (916) 875-6155.

Key Election Dates

May 23 – Last day to register to vote in the June 7 Presidential Primary Election. Voter registration forms must be mailed (postmarked by this date) or delivered to the Elections Office, 7000 65th Street, Suite A, Sacramento 95823.  
May 31 – Last day to request a vote by mail ballot be mailed to you for the June 7 election. Call (916) 875-6155 for information.
June 7 – Presidential Primary Election. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
